DISCLAIMER: This is my own point of view. Every word written on this entry is personal. Hehe. I know I am kind of late to react about his declaration of presidency on 2010 but I don't care!! HAHAHA.
The first thing my sister told me when I woke up last September 9 was, "Tatakbo na si Noynoy." I said, "Weh?! Mama totoo?".... "Oo inannounce na niya kaninang umaga." Then I scanned the TV channels, hoping to find a network airing his speech. Unfortunately, I didn't find any. Good thing, my sister's friend posted a link from youtube on his blog. I watched and listened to every word he uttered. Suddenly, I felt my piloerectile muscles activated! Haha. Goosebumps yun, tsong. Hehe.
Even before he declared his presidency, I sort of had a feeling that sooner or later he will accept the challenge and go for it. In just a matter of days and nights, my gut feeling became a statement.
What people think/say about his decision to run are:
1. He was just FORCED TO RUN in heat of the late President Cory's death.
2. Another elitist.
3. Cory and Noynoy are two DIFFERENT individuals.
4. Cory's magic is NOT and CAN NOT be inherited.
5. He has NOT PROVEN ANYTHING yet as a public servant.
6. He should be a man of his OWN.
7. What we need is a president who is WILLING to serve. Hindi yung pinipilit pa!
Those were just some of what I have read, watched and heard. Yeah, they are all negative but hey, let me finish first! HAHAHA!
When this news started (urging him to run), I was unconvinced. My reasons were similar to those enumerated above. I am choosing between BINAY and a religious servant. Hahaha. I grew up in Makati and since I was a kid, he is already the mayor of the city. His infomercial on TV is all true. He has done a lot for Makati. Actually, ayaw ko sana siya maging president para sa Makati na lang siya. Selfish? Hahaha! ANYWAAAAY. Going back to the REAL topic of this entry.. I doubted Noynoy's capabilities to lead the country. He might not be able to sustain the leadership for 6 years. Baka ningas kugon lang. On those times, wala lang sakin yung mga balita na gusto siya ng tao na tumakbo..
One day, I realized na halos lahat na ng klaseng politiko nasubukan natin. May artista, mayaman, nakapagtapos at hindi nakapagtapos sa pag-aaral, mahirap, matalino, hindi masyado matalino etc. Pero ano na? Wala pa rin. We still have the same government. Same issues. Same problems. And our debts getting bigger and bigger. Hindi naman yan sa talino o sa mga napatunayan mo na. GMA is intelligent. I respect her for that. But she took advantage of that gift. I don't have to enumerate everything. We have heard and seen it all on papers, TV and radio. BUT, I still believe that she had contributed something for the betterment of our country kahit hindi natin ramdam. Bottomline is, hindi lang sapat ang mga achievements mo, pinanggalingan mo, pag-aari mo at magandang pangalan mo para masabi na deserving ka maging presidente ng Pilipinas.. Kailangan GUSTO mo at MAHAL mo ang responsibilidad na inako mo.
As I listen to Noynoy's speech, I felt something strange. Napahanga ako. Tita Cory's death awakened the Filipinos to see what is really happening in our country, what this country needs and what we can do to help. Maybe Noynoy can be an instrument to this vision. Maybe being Ninoy and Cory's son is a big thing. Maybe his parents' contribution to this country is something he can continue..
Noynoy is a man who has no bad records. He came from a family who is loved by almost everybody. Maybe these criteria will make a difference someday.. Maybe he can really do it. Maybe he is the one we are all waiting to regain our pride. Maybe he can do it..
2010 election is 8 months away. Maybe things will be different as months pass by. 8 months pa para makapag isip.
I have no intention to influence your decision. As what I have stated above, this blog entry is personal. I just want to share my opinion about this. Politics is one thing that interests me. I don't find it boring because for me this is an important thing..
